Here at Domaine Chardonnay we make every effort to do our part in saving our resources and taking care of this big beautiful planet. From organic and sustainable farming practices to solar panels… let us explain a little more about what we care so much about.
First, we take farming seriously. For us, for you, for the planet. We practice organic and sustainable farming methods, utilizing clever alternatives and a lot of manual labor. We rely on our natural eco-system for rodent control; encouraging owls and hawks to nest here, trapping if necessary, and we respect and have learned to love our occasional benign snake or roaming coyote.
Our award winning estate wines are all made here on our property, by hand, in small batches. They are minimally processed and preserved, with fining products that are natural from the earth and one seventh of the average sulfites used compared to other commercial wineries. We also have a variety of organic fruit trees that produce some of the fruit we serve for breakfasts, and organic herb gardens for our cooking.
Another huge component to our sustainability is that Domaine Chardonnay is a 100% solar powered! All our stove tops and ovens are electric, as well as our dryers and water heaters, and of course air conditioners, and even our fireplaces!
We are also on a whole house 5 stage filter system for top drinking water quality so you can safely drink straight from any faucet (or shower!) With this, we hope to help eliminate the need for all those plastic water bottles. We also recycle and reuse whenever possible, recycle our recyclable garbage and we compost all food wastes. We also use in our guestrooms, and sell, organic face and body products. We employ safe and thorough cleaning practices with earth friendly and organic products, and we use oxyclean type products instead of bleach to safeguard our septic system and also protect the beneficial microorganisms used in our wine making.
We believe if we all do our part and make good conscious decisions where ever we can, big and small, we can all protect our beautiful earth and make our world a better place. Let’s leave it in good shape for future generations!
